..after a day in Machu Pichu.

I stayed here for 2 nights after spending a day in Machu Pichu. Great way is to take the Hiram Bingham express to Cuzco.

Spend at least 2 days in this city also becuase you will walk very slowly to discover the city as it is located on 3.400 meters above sea level and oxygen is luxury.

People are always welcoming you with a genuine smile. Step past walls of Inca stones and you enter a cloistered courtyard with an ancient fountain at its heart.
This intimate urban retreat has just 55 suites, each enriched with oxygen, which makes you sleep as a child finally after days i was fighting with high altitudes.
Location
In the city center. Better than this is impossible. 5 (slow) walking minutes and you are in the main square with its amazing market and restaurants.
Rooms

This hotel has the best linen ever. I asked if they were available to purchase. The cost is 1500 Dollar for 1 set…they are soft, hand decorated and just beautiful to look at.

Sorry for my Pjs 🙂

Aroma infused pillow for a more pleasant dream.

Rooms are classic but very elegant.

Each room and with its own private bar where guests (or your butler) can create drinks accented with fresh ingredients grown at and around the hotel.

Amazing amenities in the bathroom.

The butler service is real and they really provide what the state on their website:
Your butler will:
- Send an email prior to your arrival to see if you have special requirements
- Help unpack and pack your luggage
- Prepare refreshing cocktails and teach you how to mix a pisco sour
- Provide top tips on where to go and what to do in Cusco and book your tours
- Coordinate laundry and shoe shine services
- Supply you with your choice of hand-made soap made with local ingredients
- Arrange wake-up calls and room service
- Assist with check-out
I can tell you that i drank the best pisco sour here and that hand made soap with rosemary and mint done on herbs growing in the hotel was amazing.
Lobby & Common areas

The hotel is build into 7 cloisters so it is easy to get lost but one is more beautiful than the other

Dining
The dinner was amazing. Fresh products, beautiful presentations and a stunning atmosphere.

Breakfast
Individual breakfast are served based upon what you prefer. One of my best.

Spa & Gym & Pool
I did not take a swim as the water was cold and i was quite weak due to the altitude.

Overall vote: 9 out of 10
Hi Moritz! Yes Belmond (ex Orient Express) have very nice hotels. I gave a 9 because it still had some “child deceases” as it was still in the opening year. Now it is in its second year so surely they have managed to fix those very minor issues.

All Belmond hotels are really, really good. It’s nice to see that you enjoyed your stay in Cusco. Is there a reason for not rating it 10 out of 10?
