..the Queen. The 747 is called the Queen fo the skies and it so for many good reasons and if you are not flying the upper deck of a 747 you have not experienced the best part of this amazing aircraft. I have now flow twice times this year with this aircraft and in this cabin. I have flown at least 10 times before the past years. Also if general service onboard BA business class has worsened, the flight experience in the 747 – 400 upper deck is still the best you can get in the air.
This review is from a flight between London Heathrow and Miami this september.

Cabin
The Club World is very cosy, silent and private. The configuration is 2-2 with a very large aisle/corridor. Oly 20 seats so also if fully booked the flight attendants are relaxed and have plenty of time to take care of you. Instead the lower deck can be quite of a frustration if the class is fully booked.

The cabin is silent and if you have seen my video of the take off you realize how silent and private the cabin feels.

Seat
The seating is front-rear. I prefer the rear seating as it gives a more natural recline when sleeping. Sitting facing front makes the blood flow up to your head so you need extra pillows which often are not available onboard if cabin is fully booked.

I recommend the first row and window seat for a day as a night flight as you are not disturbed by any eninge noisy or vibrations during the night like on a B777.
British Airways has to my opinion the most comfortable beds i have slept in when 10 km up in the air. The are large, soft and completely flat. You have also lumbar support and headrest which inflates with air to give a nice consistence. Not only on upper deck you have big bins where to store your personal belongings and which just gives you plenty of space betweeen the seat and the interior wall of the cabin.

The beds are 183cm long ! So you have plenty of space to stretch into.

Now to one of the biggest issues British airways has and which is also important on long haul flights: The Tv screen are terrible for two reason.
1 . They are often broken (all times and most seats) so you need to block them with something to keep them in a upright position.
2. The quality of the screen is so bad you cannot read text of any kind and barely figure out what you are looking at.

Service
BA has staff which I really appreciate. Well prepared giving you a nice and warm welcome when boarding and leaving the aircraft. Often the pilot saluts you personally upon leaving the aircraft.
A glass of Champagne, juice or water, wet towel before take off…but…not always.

Food
Food is good. Presentation is good.

Amenities
BA has adopted since some time a cotton shoe bag instead of a small beauty case. Earplugs and eye pads are upon request. Only on the Tokyo Haneda route they provide you with slippers.
Plus
-Large and long flat beds.
-Silent, cosy and private cabin
-Nice and not stressed flight attendants
-Good food and wine/champagne selection.
Minus
-TV screen. Needs urgent updating
-Service can vary a lot depending on the route.
-Not so clean cabin. Needs more cleaning between flights especially food tray, small storage tray and privacy screen between the seats.
Overall vote: 8,5 out of 10.
And here is a take off video filmed form Upper Deck…enjoy!:
